Why?
No matter where you go or where you live, thieves are out there and they take anything that is not locked up. They look for the easiest thing to take, bicycles are one of them. Most people do not know but your bicycle has a serial number on them that makes it unique. Knowing your serial number will help Law Enforcement out on trying to find your property faster.
How to sign up.
It is very simple!!
Download the form below, fill it out and bring the form and your bike to the Police Department so it can be registered. If you cannot bring the bicycle by the Department to have a photo taken, you can email us a photo to bpd@ballingerpd.org
You will also revive a tamper proof sticker to be placed on the bike.
Where is the serial number?
The serial number on any bicycle is located on the frame of the bike just under the peddles. They are stamped into the frame, but may be hard to read with the paint.
What will the Police Do if it is stolen?
When we receive a report of a stolen bike and we have your information on file. We will post the image of your bike on social media to help locate your bike. Because we have information, the stolen bike will be entered into the Texas State wide database. So if the bike is found or pawned anywhere in the State, we would know about it.
What can I do to prevent my bike from being stolen?
Like any other property, keeping it put up and locked away is the main thing you should do. When your done with your bike, put it away. “Out of sight, out of mind”. If you do not have a place to store your bike, make sure you put a lock on it. When you register you bike with us, you will receive (while supplies last) a new lock on us!
