To Customize Your Settings

  • Log in at nixle.com

  • Click “Locations” tab

Job description:

The Ballinger Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

This position is assigned to patrol duty, and works under the supervision of a Patrol Sergeant and the Chief of Police.  Performs general duty police work in protecting and serving the community and properly enforcing laws and ordinances.

Principle duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Performs patrol duties throughout the City of Ballinger in a vehicle, or on foot, recognizing signs of criminal activity, and deterring such activity.
  2. Conducts initial criminal investigations by securing and controlling crime scenes, locating and interviewing witnesses, victims and suspects, and gathering evidence.
  3. Performs traffic enforcement and accident investigations.
  4. Makes arrests for violations of law.
  5. Responds to calls for service, both criminal and non-criminal nature.
  6. Completes timely written reports that are clear, complete, and concise.
  7. Assists the public with both criminal and non-criminal matters.
  8. Performs other duties and fulfills responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation/benefits:  Starting $29,640/ yearly (depending on experience), Employer-funded health, dental, and vision insurance, TMRS retirement, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.

-Must hold a valid TECOLE Peace Officer License.

-Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License with acceptable record.

-Must be able to work any shift, including nights and weekends.

-Must possess good communication skills, both orally and in writing.

-Must possess problem-solving skills.

-Must pass background investigation and oral interview.

-Must live within the City of Ballinger

Public Forum at the Ballinger High School talking about the Guardian Program. Arming BISD staff with firearms. All local Law Enforcement was present to answer any questions from the public.

August 15, 2016

Ballinger ISD will have a forum tonight at 7 PM in the high school auditorium to discuss the Guardian Plan.

The Guardian Plan allows teachers to carry concealed weapons on school grounds to protect students against potential shooters.

Ballinger Police Department is needing to identify this man. He is the suspect in a incident involving a stolen vehicle.

Ballinger Police Department is needing to identify this man. He is the suspect in a incident involving a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was stolen around 0600 hrs on August 11th at the Ballinger Short Stop. The stolen vehicle was also used in a robbery that occurred last night in Abilene. The vehicle has been recovered but the suspect is still at large.
